Urban Transformations in Hungary


From 12  to 25  of August 2018.


The course introduces the most important theories of the socialist and capitalist urbanization ratio system overview, the so-called. Presentation of "socialist new towns" (planned industrial cities) the main characteristics and presentation of urban development the city through structural characteristics of domestic and examples of socialist and post-socialist period. in the second half of the semester - in two Budapest Field occasion - a closer study of transformation after 1990 in the downtown areas, housing estates and the former mono-functional industrial areas, as well as trying to understand the ideology through local examples of (state) power and urban land-use context. In addition to the acquisition of urban geography, urban history and urban sociology course is among the priority objectives include networking and exchange of experience between Erasmus students and ELTE's geography students to promote it.

  Introduction
The summer course is a fruitful cooperation between the Eötvös Loránd University, Department of Social and Economic Geography, in Budapest and the Ain Shams University, Landscape Architecture program, in Cairo.

The applicants will get a 3 credit transfer hours with the European system ECTS, by which the applicant can transfer the course to any European university. The course is part of the agreement between the partner universities under the umbrella of the European Union higher educational program, ERASMUS +.

The course will deal with the notions of socialism and capitalism and their influences in Europe especially in Hungary with field trips and excursions as application case studies in Budapest. The influences of economic changes on urban planning and architecture will be examined and explored during the course. Urban transformations Budapest witnessed during the last century affected the housing market and urban structure of the city, which played a very important role in today’s life.

The hostel rooms will accommodate from 2 to 4 applicants, the rooms have with private bathrooms and a work desk, with a kitchenette as well. Kitchenware for preparing your own meals can be rented at the reception. Breakfast is available on weekdays with extra fees. Free WiFi access is available in the public areas and rooms as well. Laundry is also included but you will need to buy or bring your own washing powders, please ask the receptionist guy for the laundry room key.

BMF hostel is 1 km from the Keleti Railway Station and from the Arena Plaza Shopping Centre. The Puskás Ferenc Stadion can be found within 1.7 km from the Corvin metro station.

This summer school discusses the current debates on sustainable urban development. It reviews the evolution of the concept and defines weak and strong sustainability. It discusses the objectives, challenges, constraints and principles for sustainable development. It explores the relationship between economy, ecology and equity and explains what ıs meant by a sustainable city. The summer school analyzes best practices of sustainable development projects from around the world to draw lessons and ıdentify the theoretical and methodological challenges which face urban development.

The workshop derives as a result of the cooperation between Egypt and Spain on the level of higher education, including in this from Egypt the Higher Technological Institute (HTI) and from Spain our partner Institutions are M&m ArchitecturesMadariaga Foundation and Espacio Creativo RES. While our Contributors are the Institute Of Architect of Sevilla, and Institute Of Architect of Cadiz.

The workshop duration is One week held in Sevilla with the leading professionals belonging to Sevilla University, urban planning institutes, research centers, architecture offices and local governments, that will be also important venues.     Please check also the attached file for further details about our terms and conditions. Gladly, applicants must submit a signed Terms and Conditions Form
    • The registration fees must be paid within 2 weeks from the call deadline.
    • Supervisors are more than welcome to accompany 10 applicants or more from the same institution (for more details please contact us).
    • Please notice that we will endeavor to assist you in obtaining the visa from the responsible embassy, by sending an acceptance letter, but the responsibility is yours and the decision rests solely with the appropriate Embassy.
    • Applicants, who are under 21 years old, must submit parents’ acknowledgment form.
    • In case that Ktn Egypt canceled any event in the announced program, there will be a reasonable repayment.
    • Applicants must attend 75 % from the event in order to receive a certificate of participation.
    • Applicants must not leave the event’s city 1 day in advance before the date of departure.
      Offers
    Gladly, Ktnis gives offers for the applicants who are participating in any events according to the following:
    1. Applicants from academic staff will get 10 % fees discount.
    2. Applicants who participate for the second time will get 20 % fees discount.
    3. Applicants who participate for the third time will get 30 % fees discount.
      Cancellations and refund
    Applicants who would like to cancel their participation in any of the Ktn Egypt events will be as following:
    • Cancellation done by KTNIS, the applicant will get 100 % fees refund    
    • Early cancellation (before the call deadline will get 100 % fees back)
    • Standard cancellation (till 2 weeks of the call deadline will receive a refund of minus 20 % )
    • Late cancellation (after 2 weeks of the call deadline there will be no fees refund)
    • Cancellation due to VISA REFUSAL, the applicant will get from 80 - 90 % fees refund
